Animal Welfare

Rehabilitation of stray and orphaned animals in urban habitats has been a major challenge. The Dax Memorial Animal Rehabilitation and Resource Center (DMARRC) has established a shelter and referral centre at Urapakkam. Free veterinary care to animals and one-to-one counseling on animal care and rehabilitation is being provided directly and using telecommunication facilities.

World Rabies Day

September 28 is World Rabies Day. Creating a rabies-free environment is a major challenge in India. Starting October 2011, Care Earth has been working to make Urapakkam Village, in the outskirts of Chennai, rabies-free. More than 600 dogs, cats, and goats have been vaccinated during this period.

One Response to Animal Welfare

  1. Hi,
I have a parrot and 3 finches that I wish to donate. I have been taking care of them for few months but it is becoming difficult to watch them as I feel they need to be set free into the nature. Please let me know if you can send volunteers to pick them up or should I come and give them. I have no issues coming but the cages are big and I am not sure how I can bring them out till your centre. I reside in KK nagar and it would be great if you can help me out here.
