Care Earth Trust

Care Earth Trust established in the year 2000, is engaged in biodiversity conservation for human wellbeing through research, advocacy, and capacity building. In addition to assessing human impact on the environment, the organization recommends evidence-based strategies and action for the mitigation of adverse impacts and increasing ecosystem resilience. It also provides technical services in areas such as biodiversity inventorying and monitoring and in developing training and capacity building initiatives on conservation. Care Earth Trust is an empanelled organization of the State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu.

Awards

In 2009, Care Earth Trust was awarded the Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar for the pioneering work on conserving Pallikaranai Marsh and Nanmangalam Forests, as also the recovery of Blackbuck in the IIT-M Campus through a species-specific restoration plan. Special mention was made of Care Earth’s pioneering work on sand dune restoration along the coast of Northern Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
